Block of the Month

Each month a pattern and a color scheme will be provided. For each finished block, you will receive a ticket to put your name on for a drawing.  All blocks will be divided between the winners of this drawing. How many winners will depend on how many of you decide to participate.

Samples of the month’s block will be displayed one meeting in advance and will also be included in the monthly newsletter. This year, our theme will be "Put Togethers".  These will be small squares that can be put together to make a larger block or used as border jewels.  Most of the blocks will be 6.5 inches in size.  We hope many of you will create more than one block a month!

Fat Quarter Challenge Club

(a.k.a. "Search Your Stash/An Excuse To Shop Club")

This year we're trying something different with fat quarters! Everyone can participate every month! Just bring a fat quarter that fits the theme for that month. A drawing will be held and the winner(s) will get a selection of the fat quarters turned in. The number of winners each month will depend on the number of fat quarters brought in! A maximum of 10 fat quarters can
be won by each winning name each meeting; so...if there are 50 fat quarters turned in, there will be 5 lucky winning quilters. Likewise if there are only 5 fat quarters, there will be 1 winner. So I challenge you all to participate....think of the possibilities!!!

Each month will be assigned a different theme. That means you must read the newsletter to find out the theme for that month.

Library

Our Cottonwood Library contains a wealth of information on all aspects of quilting. There are over 400 books, as well as some videos and magazines.  Books may be checked out at a monthly meeting to be returned at the following meeting.  Late charges ($1.00 per book per month) are used to purchase more materials for the library.  If you have any suggestions for items you would like to see in our library, please fill out a form at the library table or contact one of the librarians.   

Quilts & Covers

Quilts and Covers is a service project of the Cottonwood Quilt Guild, created to provide the warmth and comfort of quilts to men, women and children whose lives are in upheaval. In previous years the quilts have been donated to various organizations including Child Saving Institute, Rainbow House, Open Door Mission/Lydia House, Emergency Pregnancy Services, Sienna Francis House, Women's Care Center of the Heartland and others.

Donated fabrics and batting are made into kits that can be used for twin or child size quilts. There are kits for piecing and kits for quilting or tying. We will have our annual Quilter's Day Out in March 2008 to work exclusively on Quilts and Covers items.
